World Ski Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo
An absolute highlight this winter are the 46th Ski World Championships in Cortina d`Ampezzo

From 8 to 21 February 2021 the 46th World Ski Championships will be held in Cortina d`Ampezzo- the family business ZIENER is supporting the athletes through the competitions by equipping the German Ski Association (DSV) team with gloves.

The third silver medal for Germany

Never before have the World Ski Championships started so late: the first three days’ competitions had to be completely postponed, making the schedule in Cortina d'Ampezzo quite tight. The athletes aren't letting that get in their way. Thomas Dreßen, Lena Dürr, Andrea Filser, Stefan Luitz, Alexander Schmid, Linus Straßer and Kira Weidle, among others, are fighting for medals and titles. The competitions are particularly thrilling for the skiers as the men's downhill courses have been completely redesigned. No problem for Thomas Dreßen: "Cortina will be completely new territory for me. Even if I had been there before, the downhill courses are completely new, nobody knows them yet; only the Italians have raced championships there so far. So for me, that means I have to be focused."

And indeed, three German athletes have already won medals. The medals started mounting up on Thursday with Romed Baumann, who secured the silver medal in the Super-G. Kira Weidle won silver in the Women's Downhill on Saturday and earned the DSV its second medal. And the German ski racers continued to be almost unstoppable in Cortina: Andreas Sander finished second in an extremely exciting downhill race on Sunday.

For a strong, steady racing performance, top of the range equipment is indispensable. ZIENER has been the official DSV glove supplier for the Alpine Ski Team since 2010 and provides the racers with high-quality gloves. The company lives by the motto ‘Made by Pros’. Here’s hoping the athletes are dealt a good hand as well! The company is keeping its fingers crossed.
